The Pilgrims are coming (back)!

Updated: Dec 17, 2018

So we are getting to the end of 2018 but there is still so much to enjoy about Cornwall - particularly all the Christmas events, the most well known of which must be the Padstow Christmas Festival. We are also starting to look forward to 2019 and are already getting enquiries & bookings for next summer. Doc Martin still seems to be a big draw, as does Poldark, but the major attraction for many of our cousins across the pond are the Mayflower celebrations. 2020 marks 400 years since the Mayflower pilgrims departed these shores to eventually establish the USA and there are huge celebrations planned. Many of these will, of course, revolve around Plymouth and a huge influx of American visitors is expected. While it is commonly accepted is that the Mayflower left from Plymouth there is some historical evidence that it's last port of call was in fact Newlyn where it stopped to take on fresh water

The old Quay at Newlyn still exists, making it a unique place to visit for those who trace their ancestry back to those original 102 "founding fathers". We look forward with great excitement to helping our clients to experience history!
